Friday’s Ms. York Dirt Trackin’ contest was won by Loralyn Brinster from Sussex New Jersey, who will represent the show during the upcoming racing season. Following the event, the 61 South Blues band entertained the crowd. Saturday Events included the strolling magician Pepka, and high flying, very entertaining PWE wrestling. Ms. Dirt Trackin ‘09, Mr. Wise, last year’s winner Lindsay Krug, and the FAME girls participated in the fun and whooped up on one of the wrestlers in the ring, who was not speaking very favorable of the town of York, and the fans at the Dirt Trackin’ Show. Sunday was Kid’s Day with free admission, which packed the halls with hopefully what will turn out to be the race fans of the future. The final day was kicked off with rousing Southern Gospel music from the Baptones, and a worship service with Pastor Dan Laterza from Racers for Christ.
A special benefit auction was held for injured driver John Westbrook. So many items were donated for the auction that it had to be extended over two days of the show. The main portion of the auction was held Saturday evening, while an additional auction was held Sunday afternoon. In the end more than $7300 was raised to aid in covering Westbrook’s continuing medical bills.
A number of special awards were presented to race teams on Sunday afternoon. The People’s Choice Awards earned more than $1700 for the York county Racing Club’s Injured Driver’s Fund. Daryl Dissinger’s Modified racer was the fan’s choice for best appearing in the show. The top five awards went to the 358 Sprint of Zach Eucalano, the Super Sportsman of Paul Miller, the Victory Junction Gang Midget type racer of Cody Zinn, who is an alumni of the Victory Junction Gang Camp, and the Limited Late Model of Greg Emlet.
The Best Appearing Awards judged by the show Judges and sponsored by Jack Giambalvo Motor Company, were awarded in six categories. In the Full Sized Open Wheel ranks, Mark Smith’s 410 Sprint Car was the winner. Alan Sagi’s Late Model was the winner in that category, while the Thundercar of Brad Shank took top honors in the Stock Car class. Ben Murphy’s Dan Little owned Micro Sprint topped the Mini racer group, while the Go Cart of Garrett Updike was the winner in that group. In the Restored racer category, Larry Stoner’s Hank’s Auto Parts Sprinter that was once driven by Jan Opperman was the winner.
Wise Motorsport Marketing is already talking about some of the new things that will be at the Dirt Trackin’ 2010 Show, including dueling NASCAR racing, without raising the price for the new decade. Photos and other information from the show are already posted at www.dirttrackinshow.com.
